Best Interstate Moving and Storage

This company is a scam organization and should be avoided at all costs! We have moved 9 times on long haul moves and once it was to Germany and back and we have never experienced this type of incompetency. Mitch, the original point of contact kept harping on Interstate being one of the top movers on the Forbes list. We made the huge mistake of using them and it was a disaster. They are a broker and not a moving company. They contract out to a local moving company. In previous moves, a rep from the company always came to our home and did a thorough inventory and took photos of our personal goods to be shipped. Interstate says they do everything over the phone. We talked with Mitch and went over our inventory list and he quoted a price of $9300 for the move. He said that between 4-7 days before the move date that someone would call and go over the inventory list again to verify how much was to be moved. Within a week, the estimate increased to over $11,000...and we actually sold some items that were not going to be moved. The morning of the move, they said the truck would be arriving between 9:00-11:00AM. It didn't arrive until 11:30AM and it was dispatched from the Austin, Texas area which is over 3 hours away. When we researched the company they chose, Panthers Moving & Storage, we saw they had horrific ratings and Yelp said they were under investigation! We live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area! They couldn't find a more local moving company? They had to use a company locate over 3 hours away? As soon as the driver entered our home, he did a quick walk through of our home and it became clear by his actions and attitude that he didn't bring the right equipment to fit all of our household goods! I kept asking if he was sure he could fit all of our stuff on this 26' Budget rental truck and he never confirmed that he could. There were calls to Interstate and Panthers for the next few hours trying to find out what they were going to do and they basically lied and would not accept accountability! The cost of the move now became $13,500! The cost increased by over $4000 in one week! The Compliance manager actually told me and my wife that it was our fault and our responsibility to decide what goes on the truck and what doesn't!!! 8 hours later, I was asked to come out to the garage and was told that they could not load anymore items on the truck. I looked around and there were numerous items that could not be loaded and we would have to leave them! These were not small items. We had to leave a 6'x4' work bench, a 9' ladder and a 20' extension ladder. Two tables from the back porch, a 6' metal locker that held power tools and misc building supplies, a leaf blower, tool box and a few other items. Really! How would you feel if the moving company you trusted didn't bring the right equipment and you simply were expected to leave your personal items behind and there was NOTHING we could do!!! My wife literally stood in the garage and cried! When we were signing paperwork and the truck was ready to depart, my wife walked through the kitchen and started pulling out drawers to see if anything was left and there were whole drawers of kitchen utensils, knives, forks and other items that were overlooked! we had to dump them in a garbage bag and stick them in our car. Neither Interstate not Panthers took any responsibility for this fiasco. The Compliance Manager, who blamed the entire episode on us said she would elevate this situation and get back with us and three weeks later, there has been NOTHING done. Interstate is a rip off company that cheats you out of your money. Moving is one of the most difficult, stressful and vulnerable times in your life and they are simply predators that screw you and then brag that they are on the Forbes list of the best companies! Stay away from them and do your homework.

Started off a little shakey but with Sheena’ s help she walked me threw the anxiety of the move.
The team that delivered my furniture was awesome.
Had everything to me in 2 days from Westchester, NY to Indianapolis.
The estatimate was a couple hundred dollars more than the estimated but everything was explained to me when the movers arrived and I was more than satisfied with how the move worked out.
I would highly recommend them for any move.

Best Interstate saved me from a horrible cross country move. I called 6 months before our move and was given amazing customer service and info. I didn’t book at that time because of other issues. 5 months later our move was falling apart and I called them back. They pulled together a packing and loading crew for 2 separate locations and a truck to move it all on one of the busiest moving weekends of the year! They were available to answer questions as needed, and the crew they used on both sides of the country were professional and awesome to work with.

We had a small interstate move scheduled with Best Price Moving and Storage contracted by us through Best Interstate Moving and Storage.

Cristina, Fiona and Aasiya at Best Interstate Moving and Storage all provided excellent service. We first contacted them on a Saturday, 9 days before we needed the move. After a number of discussions, calls to other movers and reviews we read, we booked their services at the end of that day. They were easy to access by phone and email; they were thorough in their explanations of their services; available on short notice; and every aspect of the move went perfectly smoothly.

They chose the actual moving company for us (Best Moving and Storage) and their services were also timely and efficient.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $2000

I previously posted a negative review about this company based on some misrepresentations of a former employee about the timing of my move, and the difficulty caused when the movers they contracted with did not deliver on the date they promised. The company did all they could, and more that you would ever expect, to resolve my problems.

I was moving several large pieces of furniture from New York to Ohio, and had a very specific time frame for delivery when I would be in Ohio to receive them. An employee (who is no longer with the company) represented that the pieces could be delivered within the required time, but things changed after my initial deposit. First, the movers with whom they contracted said they could not deliver within my time frame. When pressed, they gave me a two day window that worked for me.

After I drove to Ohio, the company, TR Moving Systems, told me that they could not deliver on either of the dates previously promised, and could not be specific about when they would deliver. I had to return to NY, so I arranged to pay someone to accept delivery of the furniture in Ohio.

They finally set a date and time for delivery, and when the furniture was delivered (hours later promised), a desk leg was broken, and the dining room table legs were missing.

Upon being advised of all of the problems and dissatisfaction, Best Interstate Moving and Storage Company stepped in to resolve matters. They repaid me for my expenses and aggravation caused by the delayed delivery date; they stopped using TR Moving Systems; they tracked down the missing table legs and arranged for their return; and most of all, they took the position that I, the customer, deserved good service and to have things made right.

Problems are a part of life, and they certainly were a part of this move. I was in a particularly difficult position, because I was moving items in preparation for a lengthy operation, and I was in no position to sort out the problems caused by TR Moving Systems.

Best Interstate Moving and Storage went out of their way to put things right. They went the extra mile to insure that I was a satisfied customer. Beyond that, they were very kind to me --- keeping me up to date about the progress with finding the missing table legs, and even sending me get well flowers after my surgery. They took a situation that I found overwhelming and turned it into something manageable. To me, the test of a good company is not that there are never problems (because problems do crop up) but how the problems are handled. Best Interstate Moving and Storage has shown themselves, beyond question, to be a company that cares about doing the right thing for their customers.

Despite having a problem filled move, I can highly recommend Best Interstate Moving and Storage as a company that will stand by its word and resolve any problems that may arise.

A friend recommended I use this company when I decided to move to Nevada. I am extremely neurotic about my sentimentals and valuables. The customer service manager ,Shayna, learned this when I called 10 times the first day just to be sure the truck hasn't crashed. She then proceeded to call me with regular updates which put me at ease. Knowing that I'm not just another transaction and that they actually care about my stuff was truly spectacular. Everything arrived in perfect condition and quicker than I expected. They really went above and beyond to make this move as easy as possible.

As a first time cross country mover, I really didn't know where to start but I was lucky enough find Best Interstate Moving. Their sales department made it very easy for me understand the entire process as well as tips on how to choose a moving company, I was thankful that they very transparent. With a little shopping around, Best Interstate was and easy choice. The pricing was competitive with major carriers and they stayed very attentive and responsive throughout the process. My delivery arrived on time and in great condition. I actually run consumer call centers and I was very impressed with the personalities of all of their team that I spoke with as well as their processes. This is an easy 5 star review to write.

This company should be called WORST Interstate Moving because they did not do a single thing right and for over a week now my wife and I have lived through a horrible nightmare all basically due to the incompetence of the actual movers and the unreliability of the scam artists that make up BIMS. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. The list of grievances is way too long for this space; however, I will enumerate a few examples : 1) they grossly underestimated the weight (approx 50% ); this caused a ripple effect for the entire move.
2) also lead to an unbelievably high rate after I was promised by Best on more than one occasion that I would never have to pay more than their estimate . Ended up paying $10,000 MORE than the price I was given !
3)It took them over a week to finally deliver all our furniture and they had to use 3 trucks ; I have moved several times in my life and this looked like a complete joke ; an 18-wheeler, a 40-50 footer from PENSKE, and then when that was full they had to go and rent a 20 footer from U-Haul .
No planning and no semblance of organization is what caused this .

5)several pieces of furniture were damaged; there was no organization to their packing or loading; they did NOT communicate well at all; my wife and I were both moving into new jobs and they put us in a very bad position by not moving us in a timely fashion and all the headache they caused us both which produced many arguments between us and a very poor way to start at new work places.
As I stated above, this is only a small portion of the complete and utter miscalculations, misrepresentations(i'm sorry , LIES), and overall incompetence of not just the actual movers, but the awful company known as BEST.

First, yes I realize (now) that BIMS is just a middleman and contracts independent crews to do the actual moving. That said, they are vouching for the outfits they set you up with, which in my case seems to have been a pretty incompetent one.

To start, in the email from BIMS after hiring, "We require a 3 calendar day pick up window for all jobs. 24 – 48 hours before your pick up date, we will contact you to let you know your pick up date and time window." I was informed a couple of hours before they would arrive, which turned out to be somewhere around 4 p.m. on day 2 of the 3-day window. So basically, at that point I had assumed BIMS had forgotten about me, but could not get ahold of anyone (phone, twitter) to find out. Since the closing of my current house was to take place in a couple days, I was a little uneasy. Once the crew arrived, pickup generally went ok. However, I was informed that final cost could only go up based on final weight, not down. I don't think this is what I was led to believe by the BIMS rep, but I don't have a transcript of that call.

Delivery didn't occur until probably 2 weeks later. This felt long, but I don't know what industry standard is. The crew called to say they would be in town the next day (I think) for delivery. Whatever day I was told, I got another call on that day saying they wouldn't be there until the next day. So, I had to take time off from a new job two days in a row. Additionlly, several items were broken and others just mishandled. Some items are missing, including my couch. Upon discovering the missing couch, I was informed it would be delivered about a week later. The day it was to be delivered came and went about 2 weeks ago, no couch. But, I did get a tub of someone else's stuff, so I guess that helps a little. Also, only cash or money order was acceptable (not certified check apparently, despite what my confirmation email said). Again, I don't know what industry standard is, but this day and age it seems ridiculous and is highly inconvenient.

I may have missed a thing or two in there, but the theme should be borne out. Basically, I will not contract through BIMS for my next move and I would suggest you don't either. Maybe you'll get a good third party, but maybe you won't. And for what it costs I'm not sure it's worth the risk. It is great to not have to load anything, but I would suggest giving some other group that pleasure.
